That’s me, Truly, in the picture in my garden in South East London. I live here with my husband, daughter and three cheeky chickens. I’m mixed heritage Sri-Lankan / English and I write children’s stories, poetry and songs.
My debut children’s novel, The Shell Keepers is being published by Chicken House Books in June 2025. The story is aimed at 8 - 12 year olds and is inspired by my trips from London to visit family at the seaside when I was young. The story explores themes of environmental protection, cultural exchange and family heritage, all things I am passionate about. This story won the Bath Children’s Novel Award in 2022 and was also the piece that I worked on through being on the Penguin #WriteNow programme.
Outside of writing I have spent many years working in the charity and public sectors. I've seen lots of brilliant community organisations and the power of volunteers to make change. I also love to draw and have created sketchnotes and Illustrations for events.
You can visit my publications page to see more about the pieces I have had published. And if you would like any information on school visits, events, or sketchnoting please contact me.
